When my middle child was in 9th grade, she was interested in learning more about the weather. So, I did some research, chose some good books, and created a weather class for her.
Here’s a look at the resources we used as well as the printable Junior High Weather Class Schedule.
Here are the resources we used in our Weather Class:
This science-based elective is designed to be completed by a junior high student over the course of 15 weeks.
The course syllabus has been designed so the students are studying the same concepts in each book throughout the class.
In week 7 of the class, the student will start a daily weather journal, keeping track of the day’s weather and the day’s record high and low.
You can have the student make graphs of the weather data if you would like.
In week 13, have your student choose a weather topic that interests them to start researching. In week 15, they can turn in a report about their weather topic.
Finally, in week 15, have your student take the weather final, which is included with the class schedule.

We also have a free weather lapbook.
