There are currently 46 recognized species of seahorses, but new ones are being discovered all the time. Sea horses range in size from 0.5 inches to 14 inches. Which one is Sheldon from Finding Nemo?
Sea horses live all over the world in both shallow temperate and tropical saltwater (and sometimes even in brackish water). You’ll find them among corals, seaweeds & kelp beds, mangroves, seagrasses, and sea sponges.
With these Seahorse notebooking pages, your kids can write about the different species of seahorses and their unique body structures, or even how they differ from their “cousins” the pipefish and the sea dragon.
Or they can write facts or stories about the migration, many diverse habitats, or camouflage they employ to hide from natural predators.

Sea Horse: Read and Wonder: The Shyest Fish in the Sea by Chris Butterworth (this gorgeous book does describe the sea horse’s reproduction, which is a little bit backward compared to how reproduction usually works in the animal kingdom, but in a manner appropriate for elementary kids.)
