Sacagawea Notebooking Pages
Use these free notebooking printables to write about Sacagawea, the famous Native American guide for the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

These Sacagawea Notebooking pages are perfect for many different types of writing assignments in various subjects.
Sacagawea was a Shoshone woman known for assisting Lewis and Clark in their expedition through the Louisiana territory.
Although she probably didn’t actually provide that much direction for most of the trip, her presence (along with her baby’s) helped the expedition when they approached other Native American tribes because a woman and child wouldn’t have been with a warrior group. So she helped other tribes see Lewis and Clark as peaceful.
She was treated as an equal by Lewis and Clark and was given equal voting rights, which would have been extremely unusual for the time period.
These notebooking pages are generally for students working at the 2nd to 8th grade levels.
Sacagawea was born around 1788. There is a lot of controversy about Sacagawea’s heritage. Some say she was actually Hidatsa instead of Shoshone. Most historians agree that she died at a young age; a few say she went back to the Hidatsa after living in St. Louis and lived to age 82, but there is little evidence of that.
Her name is also spelled Sakakawea or Sacajawea, but historians have agreed to use Sacagawea so everyone is consistent.
