High School Leadership Class with Service Project: An Elective Class Schedule
This Homeschool High School Leadership Class is an engaging elective course for your teen that teaches them with those “soft skills” employers are always looking for in employees.
This course will guide the student through life changing issues teenagers face such as self-image, peer pressure, achieving goals, and more. Then, the student will be required to pinpoint a need in the community and coordinate a service project with friends to help the community need.
I developed this Leadership & Service Class Schedule while my teens were in high school.
This high school leadership class uses three different books plus a workbook to guide the student through a development of their personal skills. They will then brainstorm a service project that they will coordinate and complete from start to finish.

The elective high school class is designed to be completed over the course of twenty plus weeks. The scope of your student’s chosen service project will determine how long it takes beyond twenty weeks.
The project could be something very complex or just a simple service project. My student wrote and received a grant from a financial institution to create non-slip socks for a local nursing home. The grant provided the funds to purchase the supplies. She then hosted a party with friends to “paint” the socks and deliver them.

Why Should My Student Take a Leadership & Service Class in High School?
This class has multiple benefits. The concepts and topics in these books will propel your student to reject the low standards that most of society has for teenagers, and to accept more responsibility.
In addition to developing your student’s character, service projects are helpful in winning scholarships!
This homeschool high school class could be counted as a half credit or whole credit, depending on how many hours it takes your student to complete everything. Keep track of the hours they spend so you will know how much credit to give.
