Why Homeschoolers Should Vote This November
Homeschooling is currently legal in all fifty states. While the laws vary state by state, Americans enjoy the freedom to educate our own children in the manner we think is best for them.

But, it hasn’t always been that way and things could change rapidly if politicians are elected who are either unaware of homeschooling’s benefits or are openly hostile to homeschooling.
Here are 3 Reasons Why Homeschoolers Should Vote This November
To Set an example
One of these days in the not so distant future, your children will be voting age if they aren’t already.
If you don’t set an example of voting for your child, why would they ever go to vote? You are raising the next generation.
I already have three adult children who will be voting in this next election. And although they may not be voting for the same candidates that I’m voting for, I do know that I taught them to think independently and to closely examine all of the issues from both sides.
State and Local Leaders Are Also Important
This election isn’t just about the president. There are also many state and local offices to be filled, taxing issues, and other issues to be decided this November.
Historically, and constitutionally, education decisions are made at the state and local level. It is important to vote for candidates that support homeschooling.
Supreme Court Justices
The next president will probably appoint at least one Supreme Court justice. While the U.S. Supreme Court has not ruled on homeschooling specifically, they have previously ruled several times on issues that affect homeschooling (Wisconsin v. Yoder 1972).
It is certainly possible for a case to come before them in the future regarding homeschooling specifically or more generally about private education.
Homeschooling has not always been legal in the United States. In fact, it only became legal in all 50 states in 1993. Our predecessors have had to fight for the right to educate their own children in their homes.
Although that wasn’t that long ago, we have a tendency to take homeschooling freedoms for granted. Those freedoms can be at risk because of an overenthusiastic bureaucrat or an uninformed elected official.
We must remain vigilant and exercise every opportunity we have to maintain our freedoms. So, please, learn about your choices, and get out and vote for politicians that see the value of homeschooling.
