Tecumseh was a Shawnee chief who is most famous for uniting many Native American tribes in a confederacy to fight against the U.S. government.

His Native American confederacy allied with the British during the War of 1812 as part of his effort to stop the westward expansion of the United States.

These notebooking pages are generally for students working at the 2nd to 8th grade levels.

Tecumseh was born in 1768, in what is now Ohio. He was killed in action during the battle of the Thames in 1813.

He was known as Tecumtha, or Tekamthi, or Tecumtha-Tequathathaway, and his name meant either “Shooting Star”, or “Panther Across the Sky”, or “Celestial Panther Lying in Wait”. One of his brothers, Lalawethika, was very religious and was considered a prophet, which Tecumseh used to help unite the tribes.
