In this Olympics lapbook learning folder your students will learn all about the history of the first Olympics games plus they will discover the details of the modern-day ceremonies that are an important part of the Olympics. They will also get to research and describe their favorite events and athletes.

To extend this study of the Olympic games with your kids, consider how much fun it would be to host your own personal Olympic games event.

  1. Ancient Olympics: Write a short history of the ancient Olympics in the matchbook fold.
  2. The Olympics are Reborn: Inside the fanfold, write about how Pierre de Coubertin restarted the Olympics.
  3. The Olympic Torch: Inside the booklet, trace the route of the Olympic torch.
  4. Opening Ceremony: Inside the quilt fold, describe the opening ceremony from the current Olympics. Or, you could explain how the opening ceremonies have changed over the years.
  5. The Games: Select 5 favorite events & use the index cards to write about your favorite Olympic sports and athletes.
  6. The Awards: Use the circle book to list some of the awards given to winners through the ages.
  7. Medal Ceremony: Describe the medal ceremony in the shaped booklet.
  8. Olympic Flag: In the simple fold book, explain the meaning of the Olympic flag.
