How many nouns are in the subject of the sentence? (3)
When 2 or more nouns are used in the subject of a sentence they are
said to be of the same kind and are called a series.
Rule: When 2 or more words of the same kind are used together
they are separated by commas and often joined by words like and, or,
or but.

Drawing
Ed Young combines detailed pastel drawings with watercolor pictures
that suggest objects.
Notice the picture of the mother waving goodbye to her children. The
children and the mother are drawn in more detail than the trees, sky
and landscape.
Also look at the picture of the children up in the gingko tree. The
children are drawn in more detail than the gingko tree and leaves.
Look too at the picture of the wolf pacing under the gingko tree, he
is drawn in more detail than the tree and the grass.
Drawing Activity
Using watercolors paint a picture of your backyard. Include the shapes
of the landscape but not the details. You just want to paint the suggestion
of the details.
Using pastels draw a detailed drawing of one object in your backyard.
You draw this over the watercolor background you made above. Here you
want to add the details of the object.
Geography
Locate China on the map.
Create a story disk for Lon Po Po and place it on China on the map.
Draw a picture of China and label the following:
The capital of China ( Beijing)
The Himalayas Mountains
The Yangtze River
Hong Kong
The Pacific Ocean
Color a flag of China and paste it on your drawing of China.
Write the following on the bottom of your Map.
China is in the continent of Asia. Asia is the largest continent.
Extension Activity
Read the European version of Little Red Riding Hood, Charles Perrault
wrote a good one which can be found in The Golden Book of Fairy Tales
by Adrienne Sequr. How are the two Red Riding Hood stories a like? How
are they different.?
