It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year! It is wonderful being able
to celebrate Jesus' birth, but it can also be stressful trying to figure
out how to get everything done and pay for all of the gifts. This year,
my extended family put a dollar limit on gifts, encouraging us to make
gifts for each other. I have to tell you, this has actually been quite
fun making gifts with the kids for our family. I have put together a
list of some of the crafts we have been making. I hope you are inspired!
Felt
Board - I made this felt board for my 4 year old nephew. My kids
designed and cut out the felt pieces for it.
Potato
Baker Bag - These are easy to make and who wouldn't want one - they
make your potato taste like it was cooked in the oven, but it only takes
minutes in the microwave. It's also a frugal thing to have in your own
kitchen!
Yarn
Covered Hangers - This is a great use of wire hangers.
Felt
Pencil Topper - I think I am going to let my kids make these for
their cousins.
Knee
Pad - I am going to make this for the gardeners in our family.
Pinecone Fire Starters - We melt down old candles in a double
boiler, then dip the pinecones into the wax, then immediately into sawdust.
These work great starting fires. I am going to make bags out of old
jeans to put them into. I am thinking I will use one of the jeans pockets
to make a pocket on the side of the bag for holding matches or a lighter.
Grocery
Bags - I really like these bags, but I'm not sure if I will make
them for a gift or for myself. Maybe both!
