Creating the Moon

moonWe are studying space this week.   After talking about meteors and how they have made the craters on the moon, we brought in a pan of sand from outside.   My son dropped marbles and different sized bouncy balls into it to make crater holes.  He then drew a picture of the American flag into the sand with his fingers.   No picture of the moon is complete without that!  He then had a great time playing in the sand – INSIDE.  It doesn’t get much better than that!
